Make Money with Ads on your Website

Have you heard stories about people making money by selling advertising on their website?

So you start to wonder; “How do I do this?” or “Where can I get started?” because “I want to make money on the Internet too!!!”

Believe it or not, it really is quite simple.

You do not have to sell ads on your website, all you need to do is simply place ads on your site.

No selling, simply copying and pasting simple code to your website!

How do I get paid with this method?

This is the best part … depending on the program you are signed up with, you get paid when people (your website visitors) click on these ads.

Nothing complicated about that.

Simple example:

There are a ton of companies wanting to advertise on your website. They do not have time to contact you or may not even know about your website. All they know is that if you have a website that is related to what they are selling or promoting, they would like to see their links and ad copy on your site too. So for every click that your website visitors make on your site, the advertisers will award you money!

Wow that sounds amazing, but how much will I get paid?

This is the fun part because in most cases you will not know the value of that ad on your site.

Plus there are a number of factors that determine the money value of that visitor click.

Think of it this way, some industries are very competitive for clicks and leads to their website, so they will pay more to drive traffic to their website. By having their type of ads on your site, there is a good probability of making good money online with ads.

On average, do not expect to get rich overnight by using this method, but there are stories where people are paying for their mortgages simply by placing ads on their sites. This we’ll get more in to later and show you examples of how they are doing it too!

Remember, there is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme online. If it sound too good to be true, then it is.

Yeah Yeah, but what about the numbers

Ok … most ads will pay you anywhere from .02/click to $5.00+/click.

.02 may sound low, but if you have 1000+ people clicking on your ads, then these pennies ad up (even while you are showering or sleeping!)

If you start making $2.00 to $3.00 per click, then you are on to something, because anything above $2.00 per click is considered above average.

Volume in Numbers

Remember this, because a number may look low, it does not really matter if you are doing a high volume of it.

I would rather have 500 clicks at $.50, then 20 clicks at $5.00

$250.00 vs $100.00

If you have a high traffic website, it may be probable that you may achieve this.

Quality Counts Too

If you have a content rich web site that provide great information and value to a particular industry, market or sector, it could be possible to achieve better payouts on clicks with lesser volume.

Say you had a website about a particular subject in a highly competitive industry where advertisers are spending big bucks to grab attention and traffic, you then stand a chance of make better money with the ads on your website.

How do the companies know which ads are to be placed on my site?

When you place the HTML ad code on your site, the company that is providing you the HTML source code will categorize the content on your site and so that ads related to the content/theme of your site will match.

If you website is about auto parts, ads will show up about ‘auto parts’

If you have an information website about ‘how to make money online’, ads related to ‘making money on the Internet’ should also show up on your site.

Awesome, Neato … How does this all work?

A little story to show how this works …

The company that is wanting to advertise simply makes a deposit at the ‘bank’ and tells the bank “I only want to spend $100.00 per day on ads. Plus, I only want to pay $.05 when someone clicks on my ads”

The bank then says, “Ok, no problem. We take your $100 and at .05 per click, you will have 2000 visitors to your website!”
(When is that last time the bank did not what your money anyways!)

So here you are with your cool website and you want to earn some additional income with your site.

So you go to the bank and sign up as a ‘website publisher‘, because hey, that’s really what you are: a publisher of a website.

The bank then says “Ok … here is some HTML source code. Place it on your website and when someone clicks on the that ads on your site, you will get paid.

In addition they say “At the end of each month, we’ll pay you for all the clicks received from your website” (As long as you have reached their minimum payout amount, which is usually $20.00, $50.00 or $100.oo, depending on the program!)

You did not have to contact any company or do any selling online. The bank handle it all for you.

In Internet money making terms, these banks are called ‘ad networks’.

These Ad Networks connect the advertiser (companies want to spend money on ads) with website publisher (website owners wanting to make extra money), with both parties getting something from the other.

The advertiser gets website traffic to their site, the publisher get compensated for placing ads on their site.

This is great because  you can simply focus on further building your own website or even building other sites to make even more money this way!

How do I get paid?

The ad networks will pay you based on the the payment preferences you specify:

  • By Cheque. This way you can sit and work at home in your pyjamas like some of these money making opportunities advertise.
  • By PayPal. Make sure you set up one up. PayPal comes in handy for making online purchases for pyjamas and other related consumables.
  • Direct Depost. Some will even deposit directly in to your bank account. Very handy as well, plus you can work at home in your pyjamas as well.
  • Credit. Seen on occasion to be applied to other related services, but I prefer a cheque please.

When you do start making money, be sure to purchase some extra pyjamas as well. I like different colors for different days.

How much does it cost?

Are there sign up costs? Initiation fees, rituals or secret codes I need?

No … in 99.999995% of the time, it is FREE to sign up with these ad networks!

Remember, companies want to advertise and are willing to spend money on advertising on the Internet.

There is usually an application process and in some cases you get approved right away so you can start placing money making ads on your website.

Where can I place these income producing ads?

You can place them anywhere that is usually specified in their terms of service.

In general, you can place the ads on your website, on your blog, on your forum, etc.

Rules, Rules Rules

As with any money making opportunity on the Internet, there will always be some rule, limitation, legal ya-ya and so forth. Review the term of service with any company that you sign up with because your could get banned or kicked out of their system and in some cases, they will keep your money/commissions. This is rare, but it does happen.

Here are some rules (we made these ones up from experience, make sure you review their rules)

  • Never try to cheat the system. These multi-million dollar companies have been doing this for years, so they can spot a cheater right away. Plus there’s a lot of dollars at stake and advertisers want to know that their money is being spent properly.
  • Never ever click on your own ads. Even if you want to test out the ad to see if it works or not. This is a big no-no. Once again, this is considered cheating the system. Do they know? Of course they do. They know you are the one placing ads on your site and they will also be to determine if you click on your own ads as well.
  • Don’t ask your friends to click on your ads
  • Do put messages on your website that say dumb things like “Please click on my ads because I am a student and I need to pay for my tuition that the government has provide me loans for” or something like that
  • Play nice and all should be fine

There is more, so read the terms of service … always!
